OSL 2010

It’s excitingly close to the day we leave Singapore! Only 5 days now!
This year, OSL has expanded to two teams: Team 1 and Team 2. Team 1 will be going to Philippines and Team 2, to Cambodia. The preparation for the trip has been long and tough, but we know it’ll be worth it! (:

Throughout the year, we have had several activities and courses, but one highlight is definitely Local Service Learning(LSL).
We collaborated with The National Library Board and volunteered in the KidsRead! programme. The aim of OSL’s local service learning is to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our immediate community and also serves as practice since we will be working with children in our respective destinations. We were required to undergo a workshop arranged by NLB to prepare us for the sessions at Kaki Bukit and Simei centres, which were held twice a week. Of course, our time and effort were not futile as we readily took the opportunity to learn about handling children and working with people from different backgrounds. All in all, it was a fruitful and fulfilling experience for us, and we looked forward to the sessions with the kids.
